Frankfurt, Germany (AHN) - It so happens to be that the spirit of the World Cup even wakes up those already declared dead. After doctors declared 94-year-old Maria Mueller dead, she woke up a few minutes later to ask when Germany were playing next in the world's most popular tournament.

After hearing that she was already proclaimed dead by doctors, Mueller, who now happens to be Germany's number 1 fan, said: "Not likely, not until I see if Germany wins the World Cup.

"There's still life in these old bones yet, and I certainly couldn't miss the football."

According to Ananova.com, Mueller had been found slumped over in her chair by son Bernhard Mueller, 66, at their home in Luegde, Germany.

Neither her son nor a local doctor could find a pulse at the time.

A London cabbie was mistaken for an IT expert he was set to pick up at the BBC and ended up appearing live on TV.

The taxi driver was holding a badge for Guy Kewney in reception when the confusion took place.

A producer called out for "Guy Kewney" and the cabbie was ushered on to a News 24 studio set.

Instead of telling show bosses he was not Mr Kewney, he tried to bluff his way through the interview about the court battle between Apple iTunes and Apple Corps.

But worse things often await when you get back from your summer break, as Romanian worker Valentin Lefter can testify.
The 20-year-old returned from holiday last month only to find he had lost his job because he had been declared dead.
When he arrived back at home, Lefter found a letter from wine-bottling company Prodecam Vanatori on his doormat.
"The letter - addressed to my wife - commiserated my passing away, and said that any outstanding payments would be sent to her within the next month," Lefter said.
When he rang his managers, they apologised and said the letter had been sent out because of an IT error. However, they said he could not have his job back because they had already employed someone in his place. Lefter now plans to sue the company for 10,000.

Sivanandi posted as Home Guards SP

Chennai, May 15: Deputy Inspector General of Police (headquarters) P Sivanandi, whose elevation to the IPS cadre of 1994-95 was quashed

by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) recently, received another blow today when he was posted as Superintendent of Police, Home

Guards, Tiruchirappalli.

Sivanandi, who had earlier held the sensitive post of DIG Intelligence, was transferred to his new post, according to an official press release.

"Consequent to the orders issued by the CAT on May 5, P Sivanandi, DIG, Headquarters, is posted as Superintendent of Police, Home

Guards, Tiruchirappalli, based on his pre-revised seniority," the release said.

This is the second time in the last ten days that Sivanandi has been transferred.

On May 5, the Election Commission had ordered the transfer of the controversial senior official following allegations by the opposition parties

that the intelligence wing under him was involved in activities aimed at helping the ruling AIADMK.

The same day, the CAT had quashed his elevation to the IPS cadre. (Our Correspondent)
